  • 1967 Ph.D. (Polit. Econ.) at Institute of World Economy and International Relations, USSR Acad. of Sciences (macromodels and forecasting of personal onsumption).
  • In 1973-74 Visiting Professor, Queen Mary and Westfield College, London University.
  • In 1976 elected as Academician, Lithuanian Academy of Sciences.
  • In 1992 Founding Vice-Director of Scientific Centre, Bank of Lithuania, also studies in Centre for Central Banking, Bank of England.
  • Founding researches in metaeconomics; regional multisectoral forecasting modelling; asymmetry of personal consumption following income fluctuations; banking & finance terminology (6 Vol.).
  • From 1994 Chairman of State Nostrification Commission in Social Sciences.
  • 1990-96 elected member of Restoration Senate, Vytauti Magnus University; 1992-2005 its Prof. of Monetary Policy and Intellectual Resources; 1997-2001 also member of Senate, Klaipėda University.
  • 2005 Professor and Chair, Banking and Investments, Mykolas Romeris University.
  • 1988-1992 Founding member, Lithuanian Reform Movement Sąjūdis, also Signitary of Gotland Memorandum, Lithuanian Unity for Reestablishment of State Independence. Member of its I and II Seimas and their Councils.
  • 1990-94, Founding President Lithuanian Association for the Protection of Human Rights. In 94-96, Vice-President of the Association for International Relations.
  • 2000-2002, EU Phare ACE Project "Monetary and Exchange Rate Strategies related to the Current European Union's Enlargement Process".
  • 2000-2012, Vice-Chairman of the Editing Board and Council, Lithuanian Universal Encyclopedia(now published 12 volumes of 20).
